Emmanuel De Jaeger is Professor of Electrical Energy Systems at UCLouvain (University of Louvain), Belgium. He is Vice-Dean of the Louvain School of Engineering (Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain) in charge of the relationships with industry. Research team activities (ongoing research projects) – Smart Grids: loads flexibility management for providing ancillary services – Innovative concepts of virtual inertia and frequency containment reserves and their impact on power systems dynamics – Active autonomous electricity distribution grids planning – Innovative pumped hydro energy storage systems build on specific geologic sites (out of use quarries or underground cavities) and their integration in power systems. – Power Quality and EMC in Smart Grids – Microgrids control
