Marianna Cafiero graduated in chemical engineering at “Universita’ degli Studi di Napoli Federico II” (Italy) in 2014. In 2015-2016, she worked as a Process engineer in the Materials & Processes Department and in the Chemical and Metallographic Laboratories at Leonardo S.p.A, in Italy.
In 2016, she moved to Belgium where she conducted her joint-PhD at ULB and UCLouvain until 2022. The research activities involved in her PhD thesis work, were funded by FNRS Belgium through ASP fellowship of the project entitled: “Mitigation of Nitrogen Oxides Formation in the Combustion of non-conventional Fuels”. In the framework of this project, she carried out a wide numerical and experimental investigation on NOx formation during combustion H2-rich fuel mixtures as surrogates of coke oven gas (COG), at different scales: lab-scale, semi-industrial and industrial scale. The main objective was to define efficient strategies to reduce NOxemissions from steel production integrated processes.
Marianna joined the BEST project in 2022 as post-doctoral researcher at the Aero-Thermo-Mechanical department of ULB. Her work will focus on the experimental and numerical characterization of e-fuels in advanced technologies.
